Unique, Simple, Powerful and Fast

Handmade in the UK

Launched in 2004, UKCraftFairs is a website that connects and promotes its members. It is aimed exclusively at the UK Craft Community. Members contribute unique, up-to-date content relating to their events, products and or services. The site adds value and structure to the submitted content to create a unique, simple, powerful and fast tool for the whole community to use.

The site is now the most popular craft directory in the UK and has many thousands of active, contributing members. The site is faster than 90% of all websites in the world with pages loading in less than .7 of a second.

The founder of UKCraftFairs, Michael Riley wrote:

We believe in the craft community and our aim is to build a site that helps the community to connect and grow. We feel that the individuals in the craft community can make a real difference to the fortunes of the nation.

Our motto is 'fortitudine et prudentia,' which means courage in pain or adversity and discretion in practical affairs. We pride ourselves on the quality of the site and we strive for excellence.

We hope the site will serve you well.

2003

The original idea for creating the site came from exhibitors asking other exhibitors, "What other fairs are you attending?" We felt that the site should meet that need and it does.

2004

Site was launched.

2010

The site moved over to being fully membership focused.

2011

This year saw the introduction of many new features and technologies within the site. It was also the first full year of events we ran ourselves.

2012

In addition to running fairs we will also be running courses and workshop to help grow the craft community in our area.

Plus lot of new, exciting and practical features are in the pipeline.

During 2010, we decided that running craft fairs ourselves would give us an invaluable insight into the needs of the organiser.

So, after many years of running the website and attending fairs as an exhibitor, we started organising some of our own craft fairs. Our first craft fair was at The Arc in Caterham, Surrey. The fair was a Craft and Beauty Fair. We found that mixing together two complimentary disciplines was warmly received. Hundreds of people came to the fair and the video (produced by VideoSquid) gives you a sense of the day.

We were very pleased with the venue and everyone was complimentary about the venue staff. To see a list of our future fairs, click here: craft fair dates.

We are pleased to still be working with the team from VideoSquid, who have put together this video from the Craft Fair we ran at the de Fest festival. The craft fair attracted 31 exhibitors, who really made the day a pleasure.

The fair was part of the larger de Fest festival run as part of the Caterham Carnival. It was great to be asked to be a part of this festival which raises money for the local community.
